Battlefield 6 rolled out Casual Breakthrough, a relaxed way to earn XP and complete challenges, which loses the intensity of a full PvP lobby, on Nov. 1, 2025, and announced it via a post on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the franchise.
Casual Breakthrough brought:
- Smaller player teams: 16 real players (eight per team) with 32 bot teammates/enemies (16 per team)
- Progression: Earn Career XP, Weapon XP, Battle Pass XP and complete Challenges
- Balanced XP: Full XP from real player actions, reduced XP from bot actions
- Maps: The initial maps available in this mode are Siege of Cairo and Empire State
On the same day, the game’s developers published a post reporting on tweaks regarding the progression exploit in Strikepoint mode. “We’ve identified an issue that was affecting the amount of XP earned in Strikepoint mode. To maintain fair and consistent progression, we’ve made some temporary adjustments to XP in this mode while we investigate a longer-term solution,” said Battlefield Comms in the post.
Published by Electronic Arts and developed by Battlefield Studios, which includes DICE, Ripple Effect, Motive and Criterion, Battlefield 6 was released on Oct. 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
Battlefield 6 features a multiplayer mode along with a single-player campaign set in 2027, centered around a conflict between a fractured NATO and a private military company, Pax Armata.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mixed” rating on Steam, with 163,429 reviews and an all-time peak of 747,440 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
