Key points

  1. The first Fortnite sidekick, Peels, debuts on Nov. 1, with Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor joining Nov. 7.
  2. Players can only customize their sidekick once, but can repurchase it to acquire another customization.
  3. Players who own the Bonesy Back Bling will be granted the Bonesy Sidekick on November 7.

Fortnite debuts sidekicks on Nov. 1, the same date The Simpsons season begins. Peel is the first sidekick to join, debuting as a part of the upcoming Battle Pass, accompanied by Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor on Nov. 7.

Upon acquiring a sidekick, players can only customize their sidekick once. Players must purchase the sidekick again if they want to unlock another customization of it, highlighting Epic Games’ effort to push for numerous purchases and microtransactions.

To customize a sidekick’s appearance, which once again can only be done once for most sidekicks, the player must go to the locker and navigate to the Sidekicks menu on the left. The player must then select their preferred appearance and then select “Next Step.” Clicking “LOCK-IN” finalizes the customization.

Each iteration of the sidekick must be different in its customized appearance; the pricing structure for the sidekicks has not been revealed. Those who already own Bonesy Back Bling will be provided with Bonesy Sidekick on Nov. 7, but Epic stated that it might take a little time before players can see it in their locker.

Sidekicks are little companions that follow the player around, and will reportedly be visible to everyone within the owner’s party, but not the enemies. Therefore, players will not have to worry about the sidekick giving off their position. Most sidekicks, but not all, will have earnable Sidekick Points (SP), which unlock cosmetics for the sidekick.

The Simpsons season for Fortnite was confirmed by Epic Games, debuting on Nov. 1 and marking the end of Fortnite Chapter 6. The Fortnite live event will be called Welcome, Our Alien Overlords,  and is said to feature The Simpsons characters Kang and Kodos.
