Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, the Switch 2 iteration of Elden Ring, was delayed to an undisclosed date in 2026. The title was originally scheduled for 2025, but saw delays to “allow time for performance adjustments,” according to the official social media post announcing the moved launch date. The news was published on Oct. 23, 2025.
Elden Ring Tarnished Edition comes with the base game alongside The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion, which was released in 2024. The Tarnished Edition also includes new armor pieces, customization features for Torrent, and more.
A similar instance happened with Hogwarts Legacy’s Switch port, having been delayed a whole year for optimization. A Reddit user voiced annoyance regarding the delay, which was speculated prior to the official announcement on Oct. 23. The Tarnished Edition debuts new weapons, armors, and skins for other platforms as well, not just for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The base game was initially released on Feb. 25, 2022, around three years ago, for PlayStation, PC, and Xbox. Elden Ring was the most critically acclaimed game of 2022, earning The Game Awards 2022’s Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Role-Playing Game. Elden Ring broke records for the total number of Game of the Year awards won across all media outlets and sold over 30 million units thus far.
