Borderlands 4 generated the highest launch-month dollar sales of any title in the franchise, surpassing Borderlands 3’s figure by 30%. The latter figure is based on unit sales rather than revenue generated.
Borderlands 4 debuted on Sept. 12, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S and saw over 300,00 concurrent players on Steam during the first week of release. The title saw a 20% discount around a month after its release; the sale has since concluded.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game is scheduled for an undisclosed date in future; the port was delayed but not canceled. Borderlands 4, as of writing, has ”Mixed” overall Steam reviews with 46,214 users having provided input, with many of the reviews criticizing the game’s optimization.
During the month of September, NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC 26 were the second and third-best-selling games. Circana’s stats utilize both physical and full game digital from PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo eShop platforms for publishers.
Ghost of Yōtei secured rank four despite officially launching in October, meaning the sales were based on pre-orders and early access. For the hardware side, the Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console of the month, followed by the PlayStation 5.
