Key points

  1. Festival of the Lost has finally made its return to Destiny 2.
  2. Two new events are being added to the game, as well as three new weapons.
  3. The event will run from Oct. 21 to Nov. 11, 2025.

On Oct. 22, 2025, Destiny 2’s Halloween-themed event, Festival of the Lost, has returned, and with it, more events and weapons have also been added. A new currency, candy, was also added by the developers, which can be used to exchange for various items and event cosmetics.

The press release focused on the two activities that will be the main focus of the event: Red Rum(ble) and Festival of the Lost: Haunted Altars. The former is a PvP six-player alteration of the Rumble game mode, where players will shoot Headless Ones for bonuses such as ammo to help them defeat their opponents.

Festival of the Lost: Haunted Altars is a new six-player matchmade activity on the Moon. Players will defeat waves of enemies, build their defenses and then feed their monster before popping them for candy, the event currency.

The developers also added three new event-specific weapons:

  • Gunburn: Kinetic Lightweight Frame Submachine Gun
  • Hushed Whisper: Strand Precision Frame Bow
  • Arcane Embrace: Arc Heavy Burst Shotgun (Reprised)

The weapons will drop as Eerie Engrams from the events mentioned above. Players will be able to get two Eerie Engrams daily from other Portal activities as well. Candies can also be spent to buy them from the Event Shop. The developers also added that the Festival of the Lost Weapons will be dropped with a “higher Tier than your current level allows you to earn.”

The developers mentioned that the event will run from Oct. 21 to Nov. 11, 2025. There’s also a sale on the Bungie Store for people interested in buying merchandise. The sale will last until Nov. 4, 2025.
