Alpha release of grimdark, party-based, story-driven CRPG Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is set for Q4 2025, as was announced via a special trailer at IGN Fall Fan Fest 2025.
Based on the tabletop RPG of the same name, the game is set to be released for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Developed and published by Owlcat Games, studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and played from an isometric perspective, the game allows players to assume control of an Imperial inquisitor and their party of companion characters, who are dispatched to an area of the galaxy known as the Calixis Sector to investigate a series of disappearances and uncover the mysteries behind the Tyrant Star, which holds the power to cause planetwide destruction.
According to the official website of Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, it will feature five different companions: an Acolyte of the Inquisition, Epione Spes; an Ogryn Conscript, O-118-B (Cogg); a xenos from the Kroot race named Ra’akhti; an Aeldari Corsair, Laarthyr Cairnareth; and another Acolyte of the Inquisition, Haymar Devos.
The recommended PC system requirements for the game, listed on its Steam page, include Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-6400 CPU running at 2.70 GHz, 16 GB of RAM, and either an AMD Radeon RX 570 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, along with DirectX 11 support and at least 40 GB of available storage.
