Web3 cyberpunk-themed battle royale shooter Off the Grid teased its upcoming Halloween event, Feardrop, with a short video presenting a new skin on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The announcement promised that, besides new skins, Feardrop will bring new gear and new ways to earn it to the game.
Set in a cyberpunk dystopia, Off The Grid allows players to assume control of one of the cybernetically enhanced contestants competing in a televised bloodsport on the remote Teardrop Island, armed with futuristic military weapons and gear. The game offers both PvE and PvP encounters.
The game’s core lore and universe was envisioned by Neill Blomkamp, director and screenwriter known for his work on films such as 2009’s District 9, 2013’s Elysium, 2015’s Chappie, and 2023’s racing drama Gran Turismo.
Playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the title, developed and published by Gunzilla Games, was initially launched on October 8, 2024.
Off The Grid features a 60-hour narrative campaign, supported by a sci-fi cinematic series titled “Off The Grid Cinema,” which, as of now has two episodes, Switcher and Vincent.
