On Oct. 15, 2025, Square Glade Games, the developer behind the cozy open-world survival game Outbound, announced that its game had reached over 1 million wishlists on Steam. The game is expected to be released in the first half of 2026 for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
“Hitting one million wishlists is a dream come true,” said Marc Volger, co-founder of Square Glade Games, adding, “Our community has been incredible from day one, and now, with our backers helping us test the game hands-on, we’re one big step closer to creating the cozy road-trip experience everyone’s been waiting for.”
The game, according to the developers, is still in the final stretches of development. The developers thanked their Kickstarter backers and have begun closed playtests for those in the beta edition and alpha backers. They said that there are over 3,400 supporters who were invited to “test both single-player and multiplayer modes.”
Outbound is described as a cozy open-world survival game where players explore the world in their van, which can be upgraded with solar, wind or water components to “fuel your off-grid lifestyle.” Players are also able to invite up to four friends to join them on their road trip.
