On Oct. 9, 2025, KingsIsle Entertainment announced that Wizard101, an MMORPG that was released back in 2008, is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 (in compatibility mode), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Players can download it for free.
However, the developers had a few caveats. For example, PC players cannot crossplay with those on consoles. Console players can also turn off crossplay to only play with people who have similar consoles or brand of consoles.
Additionally, PC accounts differ from console accounts. Those who have played the game on PC their whole lives won’t be able to migrate to consoles. It’s essentially a new server that does not interact with the PC servers.
Players who want to create a console account can only do so by downloading the game and playing it on their consoles. They also cannot transfer an account made on a PlayStation console to an Xbox console.
Wizard101 was released in 2008 for the PC. It’s one of the oldest surviving MMORPGs of recent years. It’s a game where players take on the role of student wizards and fight enemies in a turn-based combat system.
