Valve’s upcoming wireless VR headset, codenamed Deckard, is said to release in late 2025, according to a news report from techtroduce. Techtroduce believes the full bundle will be priced at $1,200, marketed to deliver an unparalleled VR experience, referencing content creator Gabe Follower as its source. A Chinese analyst group, XR Research Institute, claims that the launch of the headsets will be later this year, with production expected to create 400,000 to 600,000 units per year.
UploadVR, the first outlet to report on the XR Research Institute’s claims, also believes the headset will be priced at $1,000 or higher. The outlet arrived at this price point by comparing the production scale of the upcoming SteamVR headset with its competitors, such as the Apple Vision Pro. The pricing has not been officially confirmed.
Valve recently applied for a trademark on the term “Steam Frame.” The phrase was found by dataminers throughout SteamVR’s code, which, UploadVR believes, strongly suggests it could be the product name for Deckard. The sentiment is shared on Reddit, where users are in resounding agreement that “Steam Frame” is most likely the Deckard VR headset.
