Key points

  1. Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has a free demo on Steam.
  2. Players can play as four factions: Temple, Dungeon, Necropolis, and Schism.
  3. Early access is scheduled for an undisclosed date in 2026.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era released its free demo on Oct. 9. The demo was accompanied by a blog post, which stated that the early access release window is being moved to 2026. The early access was originally scheduled for the second quarter of 2025, then delayed to late 2025, and now to 2026. The delays help the developers conduct more tests, improve the UI, and redesign some of the units, units for which the players provided feedback.

In the demo, players can play as four different factions: Temple, Dungeon, Necropolis, and Schism. The early access is marketed to have six factions. A Reddit user gave their thoughts on the demo after having played it for thirty minutes; they stated to take the thoughts with a grain of salt.

“It really, really feels like Heroes of Might and Magic (HoMM), in a good way. It’s got the charm and flow that resonates well with me. […] There is currently no multiplayer in this demo,” the post reads.

The user provides input on the technical performance and other miscellaneous features of the demo; the full post is linked below.

When fully released, including early access, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will support online PvP and cooperative play, according to the title’s Steam posting. The last main-series entry to the franchise was Might and Magic Heroes VII, which was released in 2015.
