  1. Riot Games added a new game mode, ARAM: Mayhem.
  2. ARAM: Mayhem uses augments from Arena Mode, allowing for more random gameplay customizations.
  3. The game mode is considered separate from the traditional ARAM, utizilzing a separate queue during its run.

Riot Games announced the release of ARAM: Mayhem, an upcoming League of Legends game mode providing a twist on the traditional ARAM experience through the introduction of augments, a mechanic taken from Arena Mode. This adds a randomization gameplay factor to in-game builds.

Though many of the augments were taken directly from Arena mode, Riot also added 40 brand-new ones, including “King Me,” which prompts the player with the following question:

“Why did the chicken cross the Howling Abyss?”

According to the official blog post, the answer is obvious; the chicken desires rewards, an upgraded item, a prismatic augment, and aura. The game mode will have a separate queue from the traditional ARAM, thereby will not replace its predecessor. ARAM: Mayhem is scheduled to release on Oct. 22, 2025, as a part of patch 25.21.

The mode was initially announced as a part of the developers’ update video, which also discussed the changes to the punishment system to detect and penalize smurfing. The system hits indiscriminately, resulting in even Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng’s League of Legends accounts becoming banned. An additional update to the game is that players will be able to search emotes by champion name now, thereby facilitating the emote system.
