Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is scheduled to hold a free-to-play week from Oct. 9 at 9 am PT to Oct. 16 at 10 am PT. During this free week of access, players will be granted access to all of the campaign as well as all of multiplayer and zombies. This includes over 40 multiplayer maps, all six zombie maps, and other new content. The only caveat is that ranked play will not be available for free-to-play players.
The dates for when Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is free coincide with Battlefield 6’s multi-platform launch date, which is on Oct. 10, 2025. The first-person shooters have been direct competitors within the gaming industry for some time, with EA holding the rights to Battlefield and Activision owning Call of Duty. Battlefield 6’s early access beta surpassed over 300,000 concurrent players on Steam alone; 62% of the title’s wishlist on Steam were reportedly from gamers who also play Call of Duty.
The news was released as a part of Activision’s Call of Duty season 06 blog post, published on Oct. 7, 2025. Within the blog post, various Halloween-themed collaborations and events were announced, alongside gameplay updates scheduled for both Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Included within the updates are a new battle pass, new game modes and maps, and a new season for Warzone ranked play.
