- The upcoming project was briefly teased in an in-game easter egg within Soma.
Frictional Games, the development studio responsible for Amnesia and Soma, officially teased its upcoming project. Though the project is still unnamed, a trailer released on Oct. 1 reveals gameplay stills, where the environment moves slowly but little else changes.
Gamers have started speculating that the upcoming title will be set in the Soma universe. One user noted Soma’s glitch sound effect used in the trailer, while another claimed that the title is “definitely a spiritual successor to SOMA.”
The upcoming project was teased earlier within Soma, nine days prior, as a part of Soma’s 10th anniversary. As noted by a Reddit user, the recent Soma patch included a new email on Simon’s computer. The email presents broken lines of code and has hints toward Frictional Games’ next project. A user in the comments deciphered the broken code, which spells out the website Hotelsamsara.com. The same website is linked within the official teaser trailer above.
Visiting the website allows users to sign up for a newsletter and contains artwork and themes. The confirmation email comes from the Kepler Interactive website domain, which created speculations, which have now been confirmed, that Kepler Interactive is a co-developer or publisher for the supposed Soma spinoff.
