- The last Prototype game, Prototype 2, was released in 2012.
A surprise update to the Steam version of Prototype and Prototype 2 has added a few new names to both of the games’ credits and even a new studio, which has raised theories about the games being remastered in the future.
The aforementioned studio is Iron Galaxy Studios, a development studio with expertise in porting and remastering older games. Recently, they were credited with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the port of The Last of Us Part II Remastered on the PC.
The credits also thanked a “Ubisoft Connect” version of the game, which does not exist yet. This further adds to the puzzling update of the game, which did not receive any Steam news announcements.
Adding to the rumor, back in April, Insider Gaming reported that a new Prototype game is currently in the works. While the report could not confirm what exactly was in development at the time, there is a possibility that the project is a remaster of the two classics.
Prototype was initially released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2015. Prototype 2, on the other hand, was initially released in 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
