Wizards of the Coast announced the opening of its new game development hub in Montreal on Sept. 30, marking a significant investment from Hasbro and the city. The latest development hub is marketed to bring around 200 jobs over the course of the next three years.

The official public announcement claims that the hub will focus on developing new content for the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) franchise and support Wizards of the Coast’s growing digital games portfolio. Dan Ayoub, an industry veteran who graduated from Concordia University, is leading the charge; he shared a statement:

“As we ramp up our investment in digital gaming, Montréal is the natural choice. The city’s talent, creativity, and passion will be crucial as we craft immersive stories and experiences for our players,” the Global Play Lead for D&D and Head of Wizards said.

The Montréal International and Investissement Québec are supporting Hasbro with the investment project. Stéphane Paquet, President and CEO of Montréal International, complimented Hasbro’s latest investment, stating that more than 250 studios and 15,000 highly skilled professionals helped shape numerous AAA titles.
