Key points

  1. Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on Oct. 14, 2025.
  2. This means Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Monster Hunter Rise are no longer guaranteed to run on Windows 10 systems.
  3. The game is said to still be possible to play on Windows 10 after Oct. 14, but future updates might make the game incompatible.

Beginning on Oct. 14, 2025, Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Monster Hunter Rise will no longer guarantee running on Windows 10 systems. This is because Microsoft officially stated it will end support for Windows 10 on that date. Capcom communicated the news via blog post on Sept. 28.

In the post, Capcom stated that the listed titles will still be possible to play on Windows 10 after the date, but future game updates “may make the game incompatible on Windows 10 systems.”

Though the news is for all three official PC Monster Hunter titles, Monster Hunter Wilds received widespread criticism regarding the optimization for PC port, resulting in the “Mixed” overall Steam user reviews, with over 170,000 users having provided input. The update post, as of writing, has zero thumbs-up rating, as does Capcom’s tutorial post teaching players how to update their graphics drivers, rather than polishing optimization through the developer’s side.

Within the tutorial post, Capcom tells the reader what to do when the driver installation fails. The process involves running Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall old drivers, installing the latest OEM graphics card, and running the latest DirectX installer package. Unsurprisingly, the recent Steam reviews are “mostly Negative” for Monster Hunter Wilds.
