Steam Link VR is now available on PICO consumer headsets, with HTC headset support coming later this year. The app, which allows gamers to wirelessly stream PC VR games from Steam to a VR headset, currently available on the PICO 4 Ultra, PICO 4, PICO Neo 3, and HTC Vive Focus Vision. Support for the HTC VIVE XR Elite is marketed to come later this year.
As of writing, users will be able to find basic streaming functionality on the headsets; Valve communicated that the team is “hard at work adding additional features as well.” To help with the app development process, Valve asked for community feedback upon the debut of the features.
Steam Link VR was released almost two years ago for the Meta Quest. Releasing the app on different hardware is an equally important step for Valve’s continued goal of making PC VR accessible to as many users as possible. One of Valve’s next steps is to include the SteamVR Beta update, which adds the Steam Link APK for other hardware manufacturers to validate Steam Link support on their headsets.
