With the update, the Crisis Board will replace the Job Board and present curated playable content.

A new tutorial level titled Orientation will be added, accompanied by onboarding improvements across the game, along with a new Crisis (formerly known as Jobs) titled Outbreak, bringing a new location, enemies, and gameplay.

The new gun customization system, called Gun Mods, will bring modifiers that make guns more powerful or change their functionality.

On top of that, new weapons, grenades, cosmetics, and enemy types will be added to FBC: Firebreak, along with systemic improvements to harmful conditions, objectives, and devices.

As for the economy and progression overhaul, the old system of different tiers of gear and guns will be gone, and the old upgrade currencies will be replaced with four new.

After the update, any gun or grenade a player unlocks will already be at full power, with no need to buy upgrades to reach their maximum potential. Both Devices and Augments will also be at maximum efficiency from the start, so there will be no need to upgrade them either. On top of that the Reputation level cap will be raised to 200.

As for the new set of currencies, it will include Parts, Samples, Intel, and Trace, where Parts, Samples, and Intel are new types of Lost Assets that can be used to unlock cosmetics from Requisitions and to upgrade Perks to level 2 and level 3, while Trace can be used in the new Exotics cosmetic Requisition.

Set sometime after the events of Remedy’s ControlFBC: Firebreak follows the story of a special unit of soldiers named Firebreak, tasked with clearing the Oldest House of enemies infected by the Hiss. The game is a team-based, player-versus-environment shooter where players can team up in groups of three, duos or run in solo.

Developed and published by Remedy Entertainment, the first-person co-op multiplayer shooter FBC: Firebreak was released for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X|S on June 17, 2025.

Notably, the game dropped on both the Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus game catalogs on its launch day.

As of the time of writing, the title has a “Mixed” rating on Steam with 1,589 reviews, while its number of concurrent players on Steam hasn’t surpassed the mark of 50 in the last two months, according to SteamDB.

While the studio behind FBC: Firebreak claimed that the game surpassed 1 million players within nine days of release, they also admitted that the title’s launch was disappointing.
