A kart racing game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, released globally on Sept. 25, 2025, incorporating characters and features from previous Sonic racing games.
Developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega, the spinoff in the Sonic the Hedgehog series became playable on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, with a version for Nintendo Switch 2 planned for launch at a later date.
The title’s main feature is the CrossWorld mechanic, which teleports participants to other tracks in the middle of a race.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds features five vehicle types: Speed, Acceleration, Handling, Power, and Boost.
The game launched with 24 playable characters, with the final roster, including downloadable content, set to exceed 50 characters. Title’s season pass will add 15 characters from other IP’s, spread across six waves of content.
Ichiban Kasuga, a main character from Sega’s video game franchise Yakuza, was added as a free post-launch racer along with Hatsune Miku and Ren Amamiya, also known as Joker, the main protagonist of Persona 5.
