Hades II launches out of early access with higher Metacritic score than its predecessor

Developed and published by Supergiant Games, the roguelike action role-playing game Hades II is playable on Windows and macOS PCs, along with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Hades II follows the story of Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and sister to the protagonist of the first game, Zagreus. She aims to defeat the Titan of Time, Chronos, who has returned to take revenge on all gods and mortals who opposed him in the past and has taken Melinoë’s family prisoner.
In 2024, the game won the category “Most Promising Game (Independent Game)” at the UCG Game Awards.
In the title’s official FAQ, the game’s developer highlighted that it has not ruled out releasing the title on additional platforms. Notably, the original Hades version 1.0 initially launched only on PC, Mac and Nintendo Switch and landed on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S almost a year later.
As of the time of writing, Hades II has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 64,694 reviews and a peak of 103,567 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
