Painkiller To Add Roguelike Game Mode Rogue Angel on Release

On Sept. 23, 2025, the developers of Painkiller announced that Rogue Angel, a roguelike game mode, is coming to the game once it launches on Oct. 21, 2025. A trailer accompanied the announcement, showing gameplay of the new game mode.
The press release mentioned that the game mode will take players to “a new realm of Purgatory.” Players can also team up with their friends, as the press release confirms that co-op is available.
Just like other roguelike modes, the maps in Rogue Angel are procedurally generated. Players can collect tarot cards, weapons and items to strengthen themselves before they face off with bosses at certain spots.
Aside from this, the Standard and Deluxe Editions of Painkiller are now available for pre-order on digital storefronts. A physical version of the Standard edition is also available on major retailers, according to the press release.
This new release of Painkiller is described by the developers as a modern reimagining of the first-person shooter franchise and will feature online co-op for up to three players, in addition to offline play. The game will be released on Oct. 21, 2025, for the PC, Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation 5.
