Gearbox Studios announced the delay of Borderlands 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 port of the console was originally scheduled for Oct. 3, 2025. The new release date has not been confirmed. Gearbox stated that updates will be provided once the studio has fully adjusted its plans.
In a statement shared via social media, the cancellation of all digital preorders was officially announced. Customers can opt to begin the process now or wait until Sept. 26 to have it performed automatically. The main reasoning for delaying the Switch 2 version, according to the official statement, was to “deliver the best possible experience” to the fans.
The latest Borderlands 4 patch update was implemented on Sept. 19, adding stability issues and a weekly boss encore. At the time of publication, there are six active Borderlands 4 SHiFT codes. SHiFT codes grant players various rewards, which usually include a golden key.
Borderlands 4 surpassed 300,000 concurrent players on Steam alone but has “Mixed” overall Steam reviews largely due to the title’s poor optimization for the platform. Over 35,000 users provided input on Steam.
