Furia Wins First CS2 S-Tier Trophy in 5 Years at Fissure Playground 2

Furia finally won its first Counter-Strike 2 S-tier trophy after five years on Sept. 21, 2025. While still a contender, Furia is often sidelined by heavy-hitting teams such as Team Falcons and The MongolZ, the latter of which was their grand final opponent in this tournament.

Furia had a smooth playoff run after getting out of the group stage with a 3-1 record, only losing to Aurora. On the way to the grand final, they had to fight Astralis and Team Falcons, both of which Furia dominated with a quick two-map win.

The MongolZ, on the other hand, had a shaky path. They fought against G2 Esports and Team Liquid on their way to the finals, and both games went 2-1 — a premonition of what would happen in the grand final.

Furia and The MongolZ’s match in the grand final of Fissure Playground 2 went the distance. The format was best-of-five, and the two teams traded wins. Furia took the first map, Mirage, and The MongolZ answered back with a win in Inferno. The back-and-forth continued until the very last map, Dust 2, where Furia surgically took The MongolZ down, winning the map with a 13-5 record.

The win marked Danil “Molodoy” Golubenko’s first big win and added another MVP award to his medal cabinet. According to HLTV, the MVP race was close, with four players considered for the award. However, Molodoy separated himself from the pack with his stellar performance during the grand final.

The next S-tier Counter-Strike 2 tournament is ESL Pro League Season 22 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Both Furia and The MongolZ will compete, and the winner of the tournament will receive $100,000.
