Gearbox’s latest patch update for Borderlands 4 was implemented on Sept. 18, 2025, adding various GPU-related crash fixes and addressing crashes tied to animation states, audio, and collision checks. The update also debuts a weekly Big Encore Boss, which is a harder variant of preexisting boss fights in Borderlands 4

Weekly Wildcard missions and Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine were updated as well, with new rewards available via mission completion and new items for sale in Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine.

Here are the full patch notes, according to the official Steam blog post

Stability

  • Addressed crashes tied to animation states, audio, and collision checks
  • Addressed various GPU-related crashes

Gameplay & Progression

  • Resolved an issue where the Reward Center could stop working after claiming the Gilded Glory Pack rewards
  • Addressed a progression blocker in the mission “Talk to Zadra,” where the objective could fail if players exited and relaunched mid-dialogue
  • Corrected “Doesn’t own DLC” warnings incorrectly showing up on non-DLC gear

Loot & Items

  • Updated loot pools so Gilded Glory Pack guns no longer appear in standard chests

The patch update is Gearbox’s weekly patch update for its newest title, which currently sits at “Mixed” reviews on Steam’s total reviews, with almost 30,000 users having provided input. Many of the reviews criticize the game’s stability, prompting some to label the game’s performance as “horrendous.” The PC optimization for the title seems to be gradually improving, with the latest patch update slowly but surely helping the PC performance.
