Key points
- Battlefield 6 will only feature minimal aim assist, according to the game’s senior combat designer.
 - The reason why is because the developers want players to feel like they achieved the kill instead of the systems.
 - Battlefield 6 will be released on Oct. 10, 2025.

Battlefield 6 senior combat designer Matthew Nickerson said that the game will only receive minimal aim assist in an interview with WellPlayed. He added that the game has inherited a few systems from Battlefield 2042.
One of those is its aim assist; however, the developers trimmed it down, too. He said that they’re calling the aim assist in Battlefield 6 “Aim Assist 2.0.” “We’re talking real-time renders now. We moved away from squares, boxes and spheres to capsule-oriented meshes for aim assist,” said Nickerson.
He added that the consistency and performance have been improved across the board. They also removed snap zoom, a feature from Battlefield 2042, because they believed it was “too mechanically heavy.”
Nickerson said that they wanted aim assist to be humanized: “At the end of the day, aim assist is there to assist the player, but we need player input to even activate the system.” He said that they want players to feel satisfied about what they are doing in-game and for them to feel like they achieved the kills and not the systems behind it.
Recently, EA clarified that the game will not feature a console-only cross-play mode but will only prioritize console-to-console matchmaking instead. This means that PC players might still be able to join them if there are not enough console players available.
Battlefield 6 is set to be released on Oct. 10, 2025, for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
