Key points
- Fortnite is adding a new battle royale mode with proximity chat included.
- Creators will be able to play it on Sept. 18, and its public release will be the next day.
- The mode will be limited-time and weekend-only.
Epic Games announced that Fortnite will introduce the Fortnite Delulu, a battle royale mode where proximity chat is enabled and players can “forge new alliances on the fly.” The game mode will be available in early access for creators on Sept. 18 and for all players on Sept. 19.
Talks regarding Fortnite adding proximity chat have been around since August of this year, when multiple leakers mentioned it. HYPEX and Loolo_WRLD were two leakers who claimed that the feature can either be turned on or off.
However, it seems that Fortnite had other ideas as a new mode was suddenly introduced. The description mentioned that it’s going to be a limited-time, weekends-only mode, but the description didn’t mention how long the mode will be around for.
Additionally, players will need to set their voice chat to “Everyone” to be able to queue in Delulu Mode. According to leaker SpushFNBR, the mode will be an 80-player battle royal with no builds.
Recently, Fortnite released Stark Island on Blitz. Places of interest and weapons have been turned into Iron Man references. Players can also fly around as Iron Man in this map. Aside from this, Peacemaker has also landed in the Fortnite Shop.
