Battlefield 6’s technical director, Christian Buhl, mentioned in an interview with Kotaku that the game’s overall optimization has improved due to the team optimizing the game for the Xbox Series S, but it also wasn’t easy.
In the same interview, Buhl mentioned that the biggest challenge to the team was the Xbox Series S’s limited console memory. He recalled that the Series S has less memory than their mid-spec PC, which gave them a lot of problems because they noticed that their maps were crashing on the console.
Because of this, they had to optimize the game so it would be able to run in the console. This turned out to be a great move from the developers as Battlefield 6 turned out to be one of the best-optimized games in recent years.
Players who are below the minimum PC requirements were reported to have been able to play the game without any problems. Additionally, when asked about ray tracing, Buhl said that they won’t add any during the game’s release as the team wanted to focus on the game’s performance instead of graphics.
Battlefield 6 is turning out to be one of the more exciting releases of this year. It’s going to be out on Oct. 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players can pre-order now on their preferred consoles.
