On Sept. 12, 2025, Mega Crit, the developers behind Slay the Spire, announced that it will be delaying Slay the Spire 2’s Early Access to “a secret Thursday in March 2026.” The game was supposed to launch in early access in late 2025.
Mega Crit is quick to point out and banter that the game was not delayed because of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the game that’s seemingly the reason for a lot of indie developers to move their release date.
The developers added that it was only a coincidence and that the game just needs more polish to meet their standards. “The timing just worked out like that, but on the bright side, everyone can keep busy playing Silksong during the wait!”
Slay the Spire 2 seems to have added a lot of new things to the already near-perfect gameplay loop present on Slay the Spire. New features include: new characters, more cards, more potions, more visual polish and more animation.
Mega Crit mentioned that the game was supposed to be released in Fall 2025, and also made sure that the game will not be like other games that will be continually delayed with no explanation.
