GTA V Tops List of 20 Best-Selling PlayStation Games Ever in US, While Call of Duty Holds Half of It

Grand Theft Auto V turned out to be the all-time best-selling game on PlayStation platforms in the US, according to data revealed on Sept. 9, 2025, by Mat Piscatella, executive director and video game industry analyst at Circana, as a celebration of the very first launch of the original PlayStation in the US, which happened on Sept. 9, 1995.
According to Piscatella’s list of the top 20 best-selling titles on PlayStation platforms in the US during the period from January 1995 to July 2025, Grand Theft Auto V is the leader in both revenue and number of units sold.

The only title on the list that holds the same position for both indicators, like GTA V, is another Rockstar game, Red Dead Redemption II, which ranks third in both number of units sold and revenue.
As for Call of Duty, the series occupies 10 out of 20 positions on the list of all-time best-selling games on PlayStation platforms in the US over the last 30 years in terms of revenue and nine out of 20 positions on the same list in terms of units sold. Notably, 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the leading title among other entries in the franchise, according to Circana’s data.
