Cooperative climbing title Peak received a color blindness mode in the new Patch 1.28.a, on Sept. 8, 2025.
Besides that, the title developed and published by Aggro Crab in cooperation with Landfall Games, also got balance changes, such as reduced maximum time before the first tornado spawn, slightly increased minimum time before a tornado can spawn again, slightly reduced commonness of the “Tornado Hell” biome variant, increased weight of Nest Eggs, and reduced chances of the maze getting blocked after players enter the Tomb.
The update also addressed several major issues such as players can now successfully obtain the Endurance Badge without any problems. The Scoutmaster’s climbing ability has been fixed, while he could jump high before, he can now climb walls properly, making him even more intimidating. Items like Scrolls and Berrynanas, which change form when used, will now correctly appear in the player’s hands instead of dropping as a new item.
A potential problem affecting visual mods has also been resolved. Previously, playing a vanilla game after using visual mods, or encountering a modded player without having their mods installed, could lead to visual and functional glitches. This included issues like players appearing with a default skin on the endgame screen or the endgame report failing and blocking certain achievements.
Rare cases where being caught in a tornado could freeze the game on the loading screen after a failed run have also been fixed. Additionally, the backpack now has improved physics, reducing the chances of it being lost during gameplay.
Several smaller issues have been addressed in the Patch 1.28.a, as well. The Magic Bugle and Scoutmaster’s Bugle now play at a more appropriate volume, so they’re no longer too quiet. The Guidebook will render at a higher resolution even if the Render Scale is set to low. Placing a Scout Cannon on top of a jellyfish no longer risks a softlock, and a previously missing treetop has been added to a branch on the giant tree.
The annoying flicker on the endgame countdown has been removed, and the Scoutmaster’s grain effect has been disabled in Photosensitive Mode. Additionally, the rainbow stamina bar now moves more slowly in Photosensitive Mode, and a prompt on the Controls page that incorrectly said “Move” now correctly reads “Interact.”
As of the time of writing, launched on June 16, 2025, and available only for Windows PC via Steam, Peak has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam based on 116,283 reviews and an all-time peak of 170,759 players, according to SteamDB. The game has exceeded 10 million copies sold.
