It seems that the simultaneous release of the game with Hollow Knight: Silksong justified the fears of multiple indie developers who rescheduled the launch of their titles in order to avoid debuting too close to the so-called “Grand Theft Auto VI of indies.”
Developed by Ilex Games and published by Atari, Adventure of Samsara is a reimagining of the 1980s game titled Adventure, which was made for the Atari 2600.
Built for modern systems in a similar manner to Yars Rising and styled as a 2D platformer with Metroidvania gameplay elements, Adventure of Samsara landed on Windows and macOS PCs, Steam Deck, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The game debuted at the same price of $19.99 as Hollow Knight: Silksong, which surpassed 500,000 concurrent players on Steam alone on day one and then hit a peak of 587,150 two days after launch.
