Sega Announces Closed Beta Test for Cross-Play Functionality of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.

On Sept. 4, 2025, Sega announced that it will conduct a closed beta test of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.’s cross-play network capabilities. The test will only encompass the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and the PC platforms.
Players can register using the link that was included in the X post of the announcement. Those on PC simply have to click the “Request Access” button on Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage’s beta version to join the test.
Those on consoles will have to create a Sega account by visiting a separate website. Console users will then need to log in and obtain their product code to download the closed beta version of the game. Sega is also encouraging people to join the game’s official Discord server in order for them to provide more detailed feedback to the developers.
Players who participate in the closed beta will receive an in-game title on Oct. 30, 2025, which is the release date for the game’s World Stage update for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Recently, there has been an effort by Sega to revive the Virtua Fighter franchise. Currently, the company is developing a new entry to the franchise. Additionally, its esports scene is also getting a revival, with Sega paying more attention to it.
