On Sept. 1, 2025, Nexon published a press release acknowledging that Blue Archive had been hacked. Fortunately, no sensitive data was affected, with the developer saying that they operated in a separate database and were always revalidated by the game server.
Blue Archive was hacked on Aug. 31, 2025, but it was quite a peculiar one. Instead of the hacker doing everything they can to cause a lot of damage and maybe even hold the game for ransom, the hacker simply “Koyuki-fied” the game, summoning the character named Koyuki multiple times in player cafes.
Not only that, the hacker also tampered some of the game’s assets, such as the Event and Recruitment banners being replaced with the character’s 3D model. The game’s information page title was also altered, with the hacker replacing it with “nihahaha,” a reference to Koyuki’s laughter.
Aside from what was mentioned above, Nexon’s press release also mentioned that the company has reported the incident to the Korea Internet & Security Agency and confirmed that they are investigating the attack and related security measures.
Blue Archive is a gacha game developed by Nexon. It was initially released in 2021 for mobile devices. Recently, the game was ported to Steam, allowing players with a PC to also access the game while at their desks.
