Hollow Knight hit a new all-time peak of 72,916 concurrent players on Sept. 3, 2025, according to SteamDB, a day ahead of its sequel’s launch.
Developed and published by Team Cherry, the 2017 title has seen a surge of interest since the developer officially announced on Aug. 21, 2025, that the launch date of the sequel titled Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for Sept. 4, 2025.
Just like its successor, which is about to be released a couple of hours from the time of writing, Hollow Knight is playable on Windows, Linux and macOS PCs, as well as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The first part of the Hollow Knight franchise has sold 15 million copies and won four awards in different categories across multiple industry award ceremonies.
