Former game developer David Halsted, who worked at Human Head Studios, leaked several videos of Prey 2’s in-development gameplay. The video showcases an entire full demo playthrough, the game’s opening sequence, and an early flythrough of an undercity area. Prey 2 was intended to be an open-world, sci-fi bounty hunter game where the player controlled protagonist Killian Samuels.
The leaked footage showcases incomplete development gameplay; therefore has some minor bugs and errors sprinkled throughout. Despite the cancellation, the development team was able to stick together and were given new jobs at a separate studio rather than getting laid off, an unfortunate norm of the gaming industry in 2025.
The game was planned as a sequel to Prey 2006, which followed the protagonist as they went on an adventure to save their grandfather and girlfriend, both of whom had been abducted by aliens orbiting the Earth. The sequel was canceled by Bethesda in 2014, although the company was known as ZeniMax Media at that point in time. Prey 2 was close to its alpha state and saw much anticipation from the community.
