Epic Games and d4vd are partnering to publish Fortnite’s first-ever official anthem: Locked & Loaded. The song releases Sept. 3 at 5 pm PT, with d4vd having hinted at the potential release of a Fortnite icon-inspired d4vd skin. The official Fortnite social media page shared promotional pictures of the supposed upcoming music video, with a keyart which is speculated to market d4vd’s in-game skin as well.
d4vd began his musical journey after experiencing numerous copyright strikes on YouTube while creating Fortnite highlights and montage content. His mom encouraged the now world-famous artist to create his own music to overcome the copyright issues, resulting in him creating his own original tracks to play over his Fortnite videos.
This eventually led to him getting a major label deal and launching a successful music career. The Fortnite d4vd collaboration marks a full circle for the 20-year-old musician, returning to the roots that began his artistic trajectory.
The current Fortnite battle royale game mode saw contention within the community due to the strong priority of Medallions, which ran amok within the meta. Epic Games attempted to resolve the issue by nerfing the Medallions, but a big portion of the community continued to provide negative feedback regarding the playability of the season. This prompted Epic Games to completely remove Medallions from the battle royale on Aug 22.
