Key points
- No Man’s Sky has reached its third-highest player count on Steam.
- The game is also out on other consoles such as the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 4 & 5.
- No Man’s Sky was initially released in 2016.
No Man’s Sky’s concurrent Steam players have shot up to 93,332 players after its most recent update, No Man’s Sky: Voyagers have dropped on Aug. 27, 2025. The new update added a new class of ship called the Corvettes, among many other things.
Voyagers seems to have rekindled lapsed players’ interest in the game once more, as this is the third-highest spike in the game’s Steam chart. Its highest record was back in 2016, when it reached 212,614 concurrent players. 2018 came after that, when the game recorded its second-highest peak players of 97,723.
It’s also worth noting that this is only the player count for the Steam version of the game, as No Man’s Sky is also available on consoles such as PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch.
The game’s latest update is a free DLC that players can easily redeem. It adds a new type of spaceship, as mentioned above, which was the main focus of the patch. The developers also mentioned that the technology they used in this patch is also the same one they’re using in their upcoming game, Light No Fire.
No Man’s Sky was initially released in 2016, to a lot of criticism due to the studio’s co-founder, Sean Murray, overpromising features. However, as of late, the game and studio redeemed themselves as they delivered the features they promised at first, and even a few more.
