YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead reported on an alleged leak of the upcoming PlayStation handheld, revealing its supposed specifications and price point. According to the YouTuber, who is not an official source in any way, the PlayStation handheld will cost $399 to $499, and will have 48 GB of RAM. The leaker also claims the handheld will have docking capabilities.
The PlayStation 6 handheld supposedly has a custom AMD chip, codenamed Canis, using next-generation architectures such as the Zen 6c and RDNA 5. The Canis is said to have four Zen 6c cores and two Zen 6 Low Power cores; the PlayStation 6 handheld is claimed to support backwards compatibility with PlayStation 5 and 4 games.
Skepticism is inevitable regarding the nature of the leaks. The Nintendo Switch 2 costs $450 and provides significantly lower power than the alleged PlayStation 6 handheld. Sony’s handheld will allegedly use LPDDR5X-8533, with the Canis having a 192-bit bus, resulting in 48 GB total RAM. The Nintendo Switch 2 has 12 GB of RAM, and despite not being the most impressive hardware on the market, the console broke numerous sales records for gaming consoles.
