Nintendo Switch 2 surpassed 2 million units sold in the US alone, according to data revealed by Mat Piscatella, executive director and video game industry analyst at Circana, on Aug. 27, 2025.
Launched on June 5, 2025, the console is outpacing its predecessor, Nintendo Switch, by 75% in unit sales, according to Circana’s estimates.
The news comes on the heels of Nintendo Switch 2 becoming the fastest-selling video game hardware device in US history and surpassing 6 million units sold globally.
Despite all the disturbances caused by US President Donald Trump’s tariffs, Nintendo Switch 2 hit the shelves at an initial price of $449.99. The console launched with Mario Kart World, Split Fiction, Hitman: World of Assassination Signature Edition, Cyberpunk 2077 and Civilization VII as launch titles, along with revamped versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom featuring improved graphics and framerate and smartphone navigation.
Notably, unlike the price of the base console and the Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World, the cost of all accessories for the Nintendo Switch 2 has increased.
