Battlefield 2042 is seeing a high influx of AFK players farming the battle pass XP. The battle pass consists of cosmetic rewards that carry over to Battlefield 6.
YouTuber Neon PWA created a tutorial video for abusing the system. Players can farm XP by going into Portol Mode and joining an AFK Grind server with at least 120 maximum capacity. It provides restricted XP, but it provides 11,000 XP per five minutes, according to the video. That is 40 hours to complete the entire battle pas.
Upon joining the server, chill and capture a flag. After capturing, it spawns the player at another location; the player must capture the flag again. The process repeats.
“You don’t even need to move, because the in-game is moving for you, so you never get kicked. So you can leave it completely AFK. And even if you die, it automatically respawns you,” Neon PWA explained.
“After the game is done, because it’s a server browser, you just continue to restart the game again and again and again, so you never have to do anything for hours on end.”
The title saw 74,591 concurrent players on Steam August, with many of the players being AFK battle pass farmers; this is the highest concurrent player stats in 1.5 years on Steam, according to SteamDB.
Battlefield 2042 update 9.2.0 released on Aug. 18, debuting 30 exclusive items for Battlefield 6 earnable through tiers 8, 19, 30, 40, 49, and 60 of the free battlepass. The battlepass runs from Aug. 18 until Oct. 7, celebrating different eras of the Battlefield franchise.
Battlefield 2042 was initially released on Nov. 21, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
Battlefield 6 celebrated two massively successful open beta periods, with over 500,000 peak concurrent player count on Steam alone. The second wave of open beta concluded on Aug. 17.
