Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will not support operators, operator skins, and weapons from Black Ops 6. The decision to “no longer carry forward” the stated content is part of Activision’s attempt to make the future title feel more authentic to Call of Duty and its setting.
Though the mentioned cosmetics will not carry over into Black Ops 7, Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry forward, according to the community update blog published on Aug. 26.
The decisions were a direct result of community feedback, where some believed Activision “drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded.” The feedback was taken seriously, thereby warranting the lack of carryover of cosmetics.
Black Ops 6 and Warzone both celebrated Fortnite-esque collaborations, debuting operator skins for Beavis and Butthead, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and more. As for Black Ops 7, bundles and items are marketed to be crafted to fit the Black Ops identity.
Within the community update blog, refined movement updates and other gameplay affecting changes were teased, but little to no details were provided regarding the changes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 preorder pages were revealed, indicating an official Nov. 14 release date alongside a $69.99 price tag. Preordering the game grants early access to the open beta, which begins on Oct. 2, 2025.
