Deadlock Quintuples Concurrent Players on Steam as Valve Releases New Heroes

Deadlock’s 24-hour peak has increased fivefold as interest in the game was revitalized by Valve releasing six new heroes in a staggered manner. The first hero, Mina, was released on Aug. 19, 2025, with the latest one being the Doorman on Aug. 23.
The game’s numbers, according to SteamDB, have been in a perpetual mid-10,000 player count at any given moment from the game’s initial hype back almost a year ago. However, interest in the game has propelled this number to over 50,000, essentially increasing the game’s player count fivefold.
In addition to the six new heroes Valve is introducing to the game, there have been major changes that were added as well. This includes a new character select screen, The Hideout, map updates and for those who have not played the game for a very long time, the removal of the fourth lane.
As of the writing of this article, Deadlock still has no release date set in stone yet. The game underwent a unique type of closed beta where players were invited to test it out, and they were given a few invitations to hand out to their friends to be able to enjoy the game with them.
