Key points

  1. CloverPit’s Sept. 3 release date was postponed due to Hollow Knight releasing on Sept 4.
  2. Aeterna Lucis was planned for September as well, but is being delayed to 2026 due to the Silksong’s release date announcement.
  3. Faeland v.10 was scheduled for Sept 9, but is being delayed indefinitely as well.

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s upcoming Sept. 4 release date is causing a wave of indie game studios to postpone their own title releases. A similar phenomenon occurred during GTA VI’s release date announcement, thereby highlighting the immense market power Hollow Knight: Silksong holds within the video game industry.

Panik Arcade postponed its roguelike slot-machine simulator, Cloverpit, to Sept. 26 from the originally planned Sept. 3, publicly stating the game’s delay is due to Silksong’s release.

Indie title developed by Aeternum Game Studios, Aeterna Lucis, was scheduled for a September release, but was delayed to an undisclosed date in 2026. The studio also states that the postponement is a direct result of the Silksong announcement:

“Competing with a phenomenon of that scale would not only be unfair to our team’s effort, but also to you, the community, who expect to experience this adventure under the best possible conditions,” Aeternum Game Studios wrote in a public statement

Faeland v.10 was also delayed as a direct result of Hollow Knight: Silksong, a major update planned for the 2D action adventure indie title. The exact release date is not readily available yet, but the developers promise an update to come soon.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is being created by Team Cherry, an indie game studio consisting of only three main developers. The title sold over 15 million copies, and the recent release date reveal for the title prompted a new peak concurrent player count of the game’s predecessor on Steam, indicating immense anticipation for the sequel. Silksong will reportedly not have early review copies prior to launch.
