Bungie’s studio head and chief executive officer, Peter Parsons, announced his departure from the studio after over 20 years of involvement. The post was shared via Bungie’s official website, where Peter Parsons revealed his successor: Justin Truman. Truman was previously the chief development officer and has contributed to bringing the “most memorable moments in Bungie’s history to life.”

Peter Parsons sings Justin Truman praise, and thanked the passionate community.

“It has been a privilege to serve you. As for me, I’ll be second star to right and straight on till morning,” his departure message concludes.

Justin Truman also provided a statement in the official blog post, communicating his involvement in the studio over the past 15 years. He worked as an engineer, having written code for original weapons and abilities in Destiny 1. As a designer, he helped craft many of Destiny 2’s systems; he admits to getting endgame systems “terribly wrong” during Destiny 2’s launch.

He also worked as a producer, helping the team roll out many of Destiny’s first seasons. And his most recent role was Chief Development Officer, he had been helping the Marathon team build Bungie’s next world.

“I’ve also been part of these efforts at Bungie when we’ve maybe not been at our best,” the new studio head admits.

“I am committed to supporting and working alongside every member of the team here as we continue pouring our hearts and souls into these worlds.”

The social media post announcing Peter Parson’s retirement states the torch has been passed to a new generation of leaders, indicating more restructuring to leadership outside of the publicized studio head.
