Aside from it being in development, not much is known about the game’s release window. However, the game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo. The announcement did not specify which Nintendo system it will be released on, but several outlets have reported that it will be out on the Switch 2.

The original Shenmue 3 was released in 2019. It went through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in 2015. The campaign stopped in 2018 after raising $7.1 million from 81,087 backers.
