Pirate Nation to Shut Down in One Month

Fully onchain RPG Pirate Nation will cease operations in 30 days, according to an official announcement posted on the title’s official X (formerly Twitter) page on Aug. 18, 2025.
In the statement, the Web3 game development studio behind Pirate Nation, Proof of Play, explained that, “While diehard community supporters have been with us every step of the way, the game has not attracted enough of an audience to justify continued investment and operation.”
The studio will shift its focus to the Arcade project, gradually migrating game content to Abstract and other chains.
Proof of Play also launched one final two-week event where players can burn all items acquired within Pirate Nation. Burned items will provide Plunder Certificates that will be eligible for future rewards.
Pirate Nation officially launched in December 2022 and, in June 2024, introduced the PIRATE token, which will remain functional even after the game’s closure.
