On Aug. 17, 2025, Pokémon announced that its tournaments will be shifting away from mainline titles and will officially use Pokémon Champions as its “official platform for Pokémon Video Game Championships battles.”

Despite this announcement, Centro Leaks, a prominent Pokémon leaker, mentioned that some regions of the world will still use Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet for Championship series events. However, a list was not provided regarding which regions will use them.

Additionally, even though Pokémon announced that Pokémon Champions will be used as its main game, it has no exact release date yet. The game is slated to be released next year, for mobile and the Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Champions, aside from allowing players to access the Pokémons in their Pokémon Home, will also feature recruitment, making it easier for players to assemble the team they want to play competitively with.
