Diablo IV’s Next Playable Class Will Reportedly Be the Paladin

Key points
- Recent leaks have pointed to the Paladin being the next Diablo IV playable class due to a recent patch name.
- Some outlets are throwing caution to the wind as Blizzard regularly uses names in its patches.
- Diablo IV is currently in its ninth season, Sins of Horadrim.
Icy Veins reported that there is a possibility that Diablo IV’s next playable class will be the Paladin. This is reported after DiabloNext spotted an internal build for the game called “2.5.Xpaladin.67861,” which allegedly made it to Blizzard’s servers.
The outlet said that patch 2.5 most likely refers to Season 11, but it’s also doubtful that the class will be released during that season, as major updates will usually change the first digit instead of the ones after that.
Additionally, Icy Veins also said that the build is most likely in the hands of some content creators already, as some of them have been flown over to Blizzard’s HQ to get a glimpse of Diablo IV’s future.
One thing to note, as pointed out by Wowhead, is that Blizzard tends to use codenames in its patch notes. Fenris was a codename the developers used in the past, and the usage of Paladin in this new patch name has a chance of it simply being used as a name for the patch and nothing more.
Diablo IV is currently in its ninth season, which introduced a few things such as revamped Nightmare Dungeons, mouse and keyboard support for console and Horadric Spells. Season 9 will end in September 2025.
