Remedy’s CEO, Tero Virtala, said that even though the game technically reached 1 million players, most of the players came from the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 via the PlayStation Plus or the Game Pass.
He added that the main consumer channel was supposed to be PC through Steam, but the game’s launch has underperformed. The CEO expressed disappointment from a commercial standpoint and said that the game’s performance has “largely been driven by the Xbox and PlayStation subscription service agreements.”
To end his thoughts regarding the game, he said that FBC: Firebreak is a game that was designed to evolve over time. He believes that the studio has a “solid game to build on.” He also said that players who spent over an hour playing the game reviewed it as mostly positive.
FBC: Firebreak was released in June 2025 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game received mixed reviews on release, according to Metacritic. Remedy’s CEO said that the next big step for the game is the upcoming September update.
